LBG
The London Benchmarking Group (LBG) is a member-driven network of over 100 companies working together to measure corporate community investment (CCI). Members have been working since 1994 to:
- devise and now develop the LBG model as an international measurement standard
- benchmark and share best practice
- develop and refine practical measurement tools
- improve management and implementation of CCI projects
- better communicate their results
The model provides a comprehensive and consistent set of valuation principles for CCI professionals to determine their company’s contribution to the community, including cash, time and in-kind donations, as well as management costs. The model encourages companies to focus on the objectives for their activities and helps capture the outputs and longer-term impacts, both for society and the business itself.
Membership of LBG is open to companies around the world who can benefit from:
- The LBG Annual Benchmarking Report which highlights what companies contribute, how they value their contributions, and case study examples
- A Getting Started workshop
- Specialist industry sector subgroup meetings, issue-specific workshops and twice yearly plenary sessions
- Monthly newsletters with community investment-related events and links
- Individual support and assistance to apply the LBG model
The work of the Group is led by a steering group of company practitioners and managed by Corporate Citizenship. For details on joining LBG, go to LBG
LBG International
Better measurement and reporting of CCI is now firmly on the agenda in developing and developed markets alike.
The LBG International Steering Group of companies is leading this expansion, building a network and ensuring the model is consistently applied.
LBG USA
LBG USA was launched in 2007 to meet the needs of US corporate community involvement professionals to demonstrate the value and achievements of their community investments.
LBG USA helps US community involvement professionals through three interconnected components: performance measurement, professional development and network for CCI managers, and best practice and benchmarking for performance improvement.

LBG for Community Partners
As companies focus more on measuring their impacts, they rely on their community partners to understand the approach and report results using the LBG model. Some now ask partners to submit proposals structured around this approach.
Our LBG for Community Partners workshop programme enables community organisations to understand the LBG model, apply it to their projects, and report back to present and potential partners. Workshops are held throughout the year and places are sometimes supported by corporate funders.
