IFC
The World Bank’s private sector arm, IFC, uses Corporate Citizenship to provide independent external assurance for the non-financial aspects of its ‘triple bottom line’ annual report.
IFC is the private sector arm of the World Bank Group, based in Washington D.C. The IFC fosters sustainable economic growth in developing countries by financing private sector investment, mobilizing capital in the international financial markets, and providing advisory services to businesses and governments.
In 2006 IFC commissioned us to provide an external assurance statement and commentary on the nonfinancial aspects of the organization’s first ‘triple bottom line’ annual report.
Our objectives were to review the report’s sections on sustainability and development outcome results, to conduct selected checks of underlying corporate records, and to provide a statement to be included in the report. We also tested the IFC’s new Development Outcome Tracking System (DOTS) that IFC uses for assessment of the economic, social and environmental effects of its investments and advisory services.
